Senior System Analyst
Basic Function: (Why Position Exists)
The Senior Systems Analyst consults with users and potential users of I.T. services and resources when maximum system expertise is called for, analyzes procedures of the most complex nature and designs systems which effectively and efficiently solve problems of the most intricate nature. Acts as project leader on assigned systems.
Principal Accountabilities: (Major End Results for Which Position Is Answerable)
� Serve as a highly skilled expert in business application and systems technology areas.
� Serve as a project leader on I.T. projects to ensure the timely and effective delivery of new or enhanced services.
� Work closely with users on I.T. operations to identify alternative solutions to complex problems.
� Assume leadership role to ensure sound systems design, and maintain standards, policies and procedures.
� Take the initiative for recommending creative solutions and new approaches to business or technical functions over and above those that may be requested by the user community.
� Make a direct contribution to the training of other I.T. personnel and participate in the formulation of training programs.
� Serve as the expert to whom other experts turn for advice in complicated business or technical situations.
� Submit time/status reports to appropriate levels of management.
� Works well in a team environment.
� Responsible for overtime support when necessary.
� Travel as needed to meet objectives.
Nature And Scope: (Significant Aspects of Job and What The Job is All About)
The position functions as leader of a project team consisting of Programmer Trainee, Programmer Analysts, Senior Programmer Analyst, and System Consultants as needed. As such, the incumbent works closely with and gives technical guidance and direction to project members in designing and writing systems and programs within parameters of the overall project. Because this position holds a Senior status within the project team, contact with persons outside the work group is maximized.
The incumbent will assist their manager in assuring that standards, policies, and procedures are adhered to. This position also requires above average business system skill and a thorough knowledge of the AS/400 system.
Internal and External Contacts:
The internal contacts are all I.T. members and any corporate personnel using or interfacing with the business systems. External contacts are vendors, auditors and Company locations. Participate in user groups, i.e. COMMON, for exchange of technical knowledge and user contacts.
Knowledge and Experience:
� Requires a thorough knowledge of the AS/400 computer system, CLP and RPG programming language.
� Requires a thorough knowledge of business applications supported.
� Requires good interpersonal skills to convey the technical aspects of systems to the computer staff and users.
� Perform as project leader on an as needed basis.
Decision Making Authority and Guidance Received:
Make decisions regarding the appropriate action to be taken in developing/maintaining system solutions to business needs.
Personnel Supervised:
� Investigate and implement user requests
� Design and implement new procedures
� Problem tracking and resolution
� Represent I.T.
� Assume Leadership role as Project Leader
� Coordinate projects
