Software Engineer- Progress

Salary Range:$50k-75k
Employment Type:Full Time
Description:A Progress Developer will work along with a mentor to develop, improve, or maintain innovative software applications. The Progress Developer will be part of a team and take direction from a mentor assigned by a Team Leader. The Progress Developer will be required to take an active role in design and code reviews, assist with delivery estimates, and provide feedback about all aspects of the process. The Software Developer will work with a variety of team members across the entire organization.
Duties:Job Responsibilities:
- Work with other engineers, developers, Progress DBA's, architects, QA, system engineers and product managers in solving new and existing technical issues.
- Understand requirements, implement designs, provide administration tools, and documentation for specific projects.
- Perform regular on-call duties.
- Extensive knowledge of Unit Testing.
- Participate in Design and Code Reviews.
- Follow and enhance existing development processes.
- Measure and verify that new and old code has acceptable performance and scalability.
- Maintain ownership of the projects assigned.
- Consistently meet project deadlines.
- Interface with business leaders in the early development of specifications and requirements

Qualifications:Requirements:
- BSCS Degree.
- Ability to perform code and design reviews.
- Knowledge related to server hardware including networks and storage devices.
- Ability for UNIX shell scripting.
- Database design/architecture experience in a UNIX/Progress environment.
- Database administration operations experience in a UNIX/Progress environment.
- Expertise in strategies and approaches for performance optimization, clustering, and replication such as Fathom replication, Application Server, etc.
- Expert knowledge of 4GL coding skill.
- Ability to understand large data models quickly.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and quickly resolve issues.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong analytical and research skills
