We are searching for a Senior Database Engineer to join a team that serves up multiple web applications and services to an international marketplace.
LOCATION
Lansing / East Lansing, MI
COMPENSATION
50-80hr
REQUIRED
- 7+ years of professional software development experience
- 4+ years DBA experience with Microsoft SQL Server, or transferable RDBMS experience.
- 4+ years experience working with high availability SQL Server solutions.
- Strong database fundamentals and concepts, including security, web based applications, database mirroring and replication.
- Strong hardware and system administration knowledge.
- A proven passion for creating software with excellence and innovation
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles and the software development process
- Self-motivated and able to collaborate with a diverse set of people from many disciplines
PREFERRED
- Design, implement and operate database systems for performance and reliability.
- Optimize database and application performance.
- Build database tools and automations, monitoring, auditing and alert systems.
- Design and implement systems to measure service delivery and key performance indicators.
- Work with software engineers to optimize overall application design, using performance data modeling, schema design and query reviews.
- Determine database requirements, create logical models, build physical models and plan system architectures.
- Interface with network and system operations teams to resolve problems with database systems, capacity planning and crisis management.
- Working knowledge of SSIS and SSAS
- General understanding of ETL design concepts
- Basic understanding of NoSQL and non RDBMS concepts and technologies (i.e. Azure Table Storage or Amazon SimpleDB)
- MCDBA, MCITP, or MCTS database certification strongly desired
