Manufacturing Engineer - 2nd Shift

Provide technical expertise and support related to manufacturing processes and procedures

Position Responsibilities:

� Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing
� Design, install or troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.
� Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluates products according to safety, ergonomic specifications and quality standards.
� Identifies opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials or parts.
� Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations by recommending revisions of methods of operation or material handling, alterations in equipment layout, or other changes to increase production or improve standards
� Troubleshoot new and existing product problems involving designs, material or processes
� Develop new production methods using lean engineering fundamentals
� Train production personnel in new or existing methods
� Review product designs for manufacturability and completeness
� Communicate manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes
� Create job instructions, and standardized work development
� Assist in specifying equipment, process launch support for new business programs
� Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions
� Development of Process Flow
� Time studies - Motion, Time & Method knowledge/proficiency
� Line balancing
� Tact Time calculations
� PFMEA Development
� Control Plan Development
� Ergonomics design responsibility
� Error Proof Techniques implementation
� Machine and Fixture Run-off
� Continuous Improvement activities
� Shares lessons learned and best practice development
� Conduct machine process capacity studies
� Direct preparation of AutoCAD layouts
� Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes
� Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances or processing methods
� Performs other related duties as assigned

Essential Skills and Experience:

� BS Degree in Engineering
� 6 + years of experience in automotive industry in related field
� Experience in automotive trim/interior assembly experience
� Machine knowledge - mechanical/pneumatic/electrical
� Experience with or as a supplier in an advanced manufacturing process development
� Must have worked in a plant environment and have assembly operations experience
� Launch experience of Automotive Interiors
� Must demonstrate an effective and disciplined approach to problem-solving
� Lean Manufacturing knowledge
� Experience with Just In Time (JIT) practices
� Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
� Must have the ability to interact with the customer
� Must be able to effectively present to a group (peers, Management and Customer)
� Experienced with Toyota Production System basics i.e. 5S, elimination of waste, kaizen preferred
� Proficiency with AutoCAD and ability to create plant layouts is preferred
� Must have knowledge of Test Equipment
� International travel will be required
