Civil Engineer II

Description:Under general supervision, evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgement in making some substantial engineering adaptations and modifications to assigned aspects of storm drain, sanitary sewer, water system and/or lake level construction and alteration plans. Assignments have specified objectives requiring the investigation of a limited number of variables and some devising of new approaches to problems. When in the field, is alert to safety hazards. Utilizes current county-wide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

Employees of this classification are required to be available for operational problems, equipment emergencies, widespread storms, power outages and other operations and maintenance emergencies as deemed necessary by management after normal working hours, weekends and holidays. Also, employees in this classification are assigned On-Call duties as required by management.
Qualifications:At the time of application, applicants must:

1. Have a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related engineering degree from an accredited college, university, or technical school; AND

2. Have passed Part I of the Professional Engineer's Examination; AND

3. Have had two (2) years of full-time professional engineering experience; AND

NOTE: A Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited college, university, or technical school may be substituted for one year of the experience requirement above.

4. Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license.
