| Description: | Battery System Engineering Leader will be responsible for ensuring that our battery systems are designed and validated to meet all customer and internal requirements while being optimized for cost. She/he will work very closely with internal and external engineering teams and Purchasing in achieving the above objective. The person is expected to have appropriate formal training, a strong analytical foundation and demonstrated capability to seek and secure relevant data and information from subject matter experts in cell characteristics, electronics, control systems, and mechanical and thermal engineering and lead cross-functional design reviews. She/he will have access to subject matter experts and authority to assign tasks to the system engineering team members and establish cross-functional trade-offs.

| Duties: | Responsibilities
� Own and maintain revisions to battery pack specification
� Ensure released designs conform to battery specifications through formal gateway sign-offs
� Own and maintain battery system DFMEA and linkages to lower level DFMEA�s
� Customer interface for vehicle integration of battery pack and systems
� Work closely with internal and external engineering teams and Purchasing to ensure timely completion of deliverables
� Lead system design reviews
� Maintain and enhance battery system design guide(s) to capture lessons learned and continuous improvement
� Optimize system level validation plans in collaboration with the validation group and subsystem engineering teams
� Utilize 8-D type problem solving process for addressing system level field and validation test issues

| Qualifications: | Education
� M.S. in System, Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive or Aerospace Engineering or Physics or equivalent experience required.
� PhD preferred
Experience
� Relevant experience to demonstrate capability and aptitude in
� Modeling physical systems
� Application of analysis, design, and testing to solve complex engineering problems
� Data acquisition and analysis
� Working knowledge of lithium-ion battery cells and their characteristics
� Working knowledge of battery systems related to design of module and pack enclosures, cell tab welding, thermal management, vehicle integration
� Experience in the design and testing of energy storage systems for use in vehicle applications or grid power frequency regulation
� Experience working with suppliers on execution of purchased systems to engineering specifications desirable
� Design release engineering, engineering change management and project management experience desirable
� Vehicle propulsion system knowledge or experience is a plus
